Violist Alaina Rea has recently been appointed as the Assistant Principal Violist of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Alaina completed her undergraduate studies at The Juilliard School as a student of Heidi Castleman and Steven Tenenbom. She is currently a Graduate Performance Diploma student at the Peabody Conservatory where she studies with Victoria Chiang and Choong-Jin Chang. Notable recent performances include a performance of Souvenir de Florence with Vadim Gluzman and Brahms String Sextet No. 1 with Robert McDuffie. Alaina has spent summers as a fellowship student at the Tanglewood Music Center and Aspen Music Festival, and has substituted in the Cincinnati and Baltimore Symphonies.
