Jacob Scharfman is a classically-trained baritone singing and teaching around the world. He offers remote lessons to students of all skill levels and backgrounds, encouraging confident technique in any style. Don’t hesitate to book an introductory lesson!

Jacob holds degrees from the Juilliard School and Brown University and has trained with the Merola Opera Program and Central City Opera. He has sung in major houses across the globe, including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse. Jacob won First Place in the 2021 National Opera Association Vocal Competition and was nominated for Best Male Newcomer by the Austrian Musiktheaterpreis (2020).

Opera News has lauded Jacob’s “attractive, rounded baritone” and the San Francisco Chronicle his “debonair and insinuating touch.” In his native Boston, Jacob has earned praise for his “rich, ringing baritone” (Boston Classical Review), a voice “certain to gain popularity… well-rounded and rich, maintaining clarity and precision throughout his entire range” (Boston Musical Intelligencer).
