Su Jin Kang (b.1994) from Seoul, South Korea, has been commissioned by the Manhattan School of Music Composer’s Orchestra, Zodiac Trio, the Sforzando Composer's Collective and has been championed internationally by performers such as George Manahan, Kliment Krylosvskiy, Nathan Ben-Yehuda, and Martha Cargo. She was the resident composer at the Zodiac Festival in 2017 and received first place in the Dal Niente Composer's Competition at the Chicago Academy for the Arts in recognition of her piece: Marimba Trio. Kang was the featured pianist at the 30th anniversary gala concert at the Harris Theater for the Chicago Academy for the Arts. Kang completed her bachelor's degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with J.M Stambaugh and Susan Botti. She is currently at the Juilliard School and have studied with Melinda Wagner and is currently under Andrew Norman receiving her Master's of Music degree. She is the recipient of the Gretchaninoff Memorial Prize and the J. & L. Dreyfus Scholarship.
