A native of Santiago, Chile, Axel Vallejos is a graduate of Rice University, where he completed his Master’s degree in cello performance. Nik Hooks has enjoyed a varied career as a chamber, orchestra, and solo performer, having concertized in renowned venues across the globe. In 2019, he won the Principal Bassoon position with the Billings Symphony Orchestra and was the grand prize winner of the Sherman Walt Merit Award Competition. He holds a Performance Studies Certificate from The Colburn School and a Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory. He has appeared on recordings and at major festivals and venues across North America, Europe, and Brazil with artists including Kenny Werner, Luciana Souza, Charles Neville, Dominick Farinacci, and Jamey Haddad.
